Gold Diggin' by Nikkea Smithers is a great read, and will have you cheering for love to conquer all. I read this book in one sitting and let me tell you I eagerly await her next book.
Goldie is living the life fresh out of college and has the job of her dreams as an account personality for an up-and-coming radio station, WHOT. She loves mingling with the people, celebrities and such and really puts her all into everything she touches. However, she has some major family issues that once they become revealed will turn her world upside down.
Keith is a victim of rape at an early age and has since shut down and has become very bitter and detached from life. Knowing that he holds his moms' life in the palm of his hands, he never reveals what happened to him, and gets mixed up with a known drug dealer who promises him safety and shelter. Ten years later Keith's new job, as assassin, leaves him unfulfilled and feeling like something is missing from his life.
Goldie and Keith's paths cross when she is the next victim on his hit list. Will Goldie remain at the station even though she has stumbled across illegal activity? Will she take her findings to the police, or will she listen to Keith's wishes for her to remain silent?
I recommend this book to readers of all genres. And I look forward to Ms. Smither's next book.

I got this book in December from RWA Book Club. While I was reading it, I kept wondering why I let it sit on my shelf so long!
I believe that everything happens for a reason. It's amazing the people we meet in life just by chance. One day Sonny did something to his employee Goldie at the radio station where they work. Goldie left and did not want to return. Sonny wanted to get her back, and his friend Rucker was on it. Rucker got his hit man Keith on the case. Keith had something terrible happen to him when he was a little boy, and it kept him from really getting close to anyone except his friend Rucker. Rucker took him in and pretty much saved him. Anyway, Keith is supposed to try to get Goldie back or else.....but something happens that changes their lives forever.
This is the second book that I have read from Nikkea Smithers, and she never fails to impress me! I got so immersed in this book! I admit, I took some breaks toward the end because I was afraid of how it was going to end! Plus, I loved this book so much that I didn't want it to end! There were definitely some steamy scenes in here too! This is one page turner that I definitely recommend!
Nikkea Smithers told me that Keith's Story is next, so I definitely will be reading that one to find out more about him!
Rarely do I come across a book that's free and still worth the read. This book was great and extremely well written.
This book had a lot of extra details in it but was still a good read left no questions unanswered. I can't wait to read the second part.
I enjoyed this book the plot was good and the author was good in weaving in two of the book main characters who. Both happened to be victims die to no fault of their own.
